A downloadable game for Windows

I tried to recode A Dance of Fire and Ice (from 7th Beat Games: https://fizzd.itch.io/a-dance-of-fire-and-ice) in gamemaker studio 2 as a learning exercise.

"A Dance of Fire and Ice is a strict rhythm game. Keep your focus as you guide two orbiting planets along a winding path without breaking their perfect equilibrium."

You can use pretty all keys to play (it's a one key rhythm game), but in harder levels you would probably use more than one key/finger to be more precise.

Re-coded features :

- Around ten levels

- Checkpoints

- Dynamic speed/tempo setting

- Several planets "skins"

- A few animations (camera, etc)

- Timing indications (late, perfect, early, ...)

- Speed up/down tiles

- Rotation direction change tile

- A lot of angles for every beat interval (180, 150, 135, 120, 90, 60, 45)

- Pause menu

- A few bugs, mainly with the countdown at somecheckpoints, but reseting with R generally fixes it.

Hi Adrien! I'm Kyle from 7th Beat Games. We checked out your coding exercise and I'll say we were very impressed by your work! We're happy that ADOFAI could serve as inspiration for your coding practice and hope you learned a lot from it.

While we have no problem with you doing this for your own practice, unfortunately the game does come up in itch's search and browse when people try to find our own game.

We'd be fine with you keeping the project up if you can do the following for us:

1. Add "Re-coded and unofficial" to the game's thumbnail image itself to help prevent confusion

2. Do one of the following: either click the checkbox for " Unlisted in search and browse" at the bottom of the Edit Game page, so that people can only play it if they're given a link, OR please remove the other levels in your game so that only Worlds 1 , 2, and 3 are playable. We're fine with people playing Worlds 1, 2, and 3 completely for free and we've allowed for those in public free demos before.

Again, we're flattered to hear that you've enjoyed our game and that it served as inspiration for your programming! We're also impressed with how quickly it loads, haha. Great work!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Kyle, thank you for your message (and as for me I'm impressed with how the original game is technically solid, but that's the difference between me and a team of real devs I guess haha). I'm still pretty curious to know how you achieved a few things.

I really didn't expect my upload to break through like it did (my version being so lame compared to the game, and my previous exercise with baba is you having like 10 downloads), otherwise I would definitively have asked you before uploading it.

Thank you for letting me keep my project up, I'll unlist the game in search and browse and modify the thumbnail as quickly as possible (it's been a few days I realized using an official icon wasn't a good idea, but being on vacations away from home, I was waiting to come back to create my own one).

I apologize for the inconvenience.

cool idea, but how do i play it?

I'm sorry, I checked the box to prevent downloading an old version with a bug, but replacing by the new corrected version (with the same name) left the box checked. It's fixed now. Be happy, there are a few additions since the old version!

Such a cool Idea, I loved it!

Thank you (but the idea is not mine, the game exists)! How did you come across it?

I'm still working on camera to add juice!

I was just scanning new published games to play them for a bit. I like to see how people start publishing and things like that, since I'm very newbie myself.
